Shareholders

Cerrejón is owned in three equal parts by BHP Billiton plc (Australia), Anglo American plc (South Africa), and Xstrata plc (Switzerland). Cerrejón coal supplies the sector of electrical power generation, mainly in the markets of the Atlantic Ocean, North America, Europe, and Latin America, with minor sales in the Pacific.

BHP Billiton. An Australian-English company whose stock is traded on the markets of Melbourne and London. Its business portfolio is diversified and includes the extraction of iron ore, petroleum, coal, and special products (diamonds, etc.)

Anglo American. A South African-English company. It has mining operations around the world, mainly in South Africa, Australia, and the Americas. Its business portfolio focuses on coal and base metals: copper and iron ore, amongst others

Xstrata. A company owned by Swiss capital. Its shares are also traded in London. Its business portfolio includes the production of nickel, vanadium, copper, and other minerals. It is the largest coal exporter on the international market.
