Cerrejón Symphony Orchestra at Ginebra, Valle
June 8, 2012
In preparation for the 2013Mono Nuñez Festival, 10 members of Cerrejón Symphony Orchestra and 3 teachers traveled to the Valle del Cauca, to attend educational workshops that take place within the framework of the festival.
The Music Festival, which takes place from 7th to June 10th, is a mix folklore and modernity that brings together the most outstanding composers and performers of Colombian Andean music.
By this mean, Cerrejón Symphony Orchestra enriches its knowledge in Colombian and Latin American music, with genres like bambuco, waltz, pasillo, guabina, among others, mostly from the country’s central region.
"I'm a base player, but here I have learned from other instruments like guitar, violin, flute. In the Orchestra we are in a level that allows taking part of this festival and will be an opportunity for our talent to be recognized elsewhere. " says Marco Antonio Medina Carrillo, member of Cerrejón Symphony Orchestra.
