Industrial Safety and Occupational Health
At Cerrejón the safety of our operations is a fundamental value that we build upon each day through the promotion and participation of our direct workers and contractors, the design of activities, and healthy and safe environments. We work as creators of a culture that values, promotes, and accepts that we can run an accident-free operation that protects lives. For this reason, the Company implements international-level practices and standards for the identification and assessment of risks using safety tools that are available for the effective control of such risks; it knows and complies with the applicable laws, has work plans, and monitors its compliance; similarly, it ensures that its personnel are trained and skilled to carry out their jobs.
Preparation and timely handling of emergencies is one of our highest priorities. We make preventive preparations so that we are always ready and respond to save lives. To this end, the Company has an Emergency Response Group that is trained and specialized at the highest level, and sufficient infrastructure to effectively respond when faced with unexpected events.

Prevention and systematic and integral management of health and safety at work are positively reflected in the indicators that record work accidents and occupational diseases, as demonstrated in Cerrejón’s achievements presented in this report.
