Cerrejón y Sintracarbón sign new Collective Labour Agreement for 2018 – 2019

Cerrejón and its majority union, Sintracarbón, have reached a final agreement in their process to negotiate the union’s list of demands, and have consequently signed a new Collective Labour Agreement for the years 2018 and 2019.

This agreement proves once again that through respectful dialogue and understanding between the parties, it is always possible to resolve differences. The new Collective Agreement features improvements in many benefits that are highly-valued by workers and their families, such as: a Signing Bonus, advance payment of a Special Bonus, Salary Increase for 2018 and 2019, Educational Aid, Additional Health Plan, and Housing and Travel Expenses, among others.

“I wish to thank the negotiating committees of Sintracarbón and the administration for carrying out the negotiation in an atmosphere of respect, professionalism and collective construction. Having surmounted this process, I encourage all our employees to continue contributing with work that is safe and productive, to focus their efforts on helping guarantee Cerrejón’s sustainability and to continue strengthening our commitment to the development of La Guajira”, commented Roberto Junguito, the president of Cerrejón.
