Our vision contemplates the fulfillment of the highest standards in security and governs by the value of “Safety, Health, Environment and Communities” (SHEC) that moves us to obtain results of excellence in these aspects, working in the effective control of the risks. At Cerrejón, our activities on these fronts comply with current national and international regulations and are part of the Operational Integrity System (SIO), through which we apply and comply with the requirements of ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 Standards

The SIO was certified in November 2003 with the standards ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001. In 2006 it was re-certified, at the end of the term of 3 years, as established in this process. Also, for 2010 we received once again the certification of these standards.

Additionally, we established our Labor Social Responsibility System following the international standard SA8000, through which we promote fair and decent working conditions throughout our supply chain. In this way we reject forced and child labor as well as any type of discrimination that may arise, we promote safety and health at work, we respect free association in unions and we care about offering fair remunerations and benefits to our employees and contractors.

Cerrejón is the first mining company certified as Healthy Organization (“Organización Saludable”) in the country by Fundación Colombiana del Corazón. This distinction recognizes the work that the Company has developed around its Management System for Prevention of Cardiovascular Diseases and Other Chronic Non-Transferable Diseases, with which it promotes health of its collaborators, fostering care, healthy life styles, personal-labor balance and the involvement of families in the well-being activities that the company carries out (2018).
