After the vote to strike, conversations continue between Cerrejón and Sintracarbón

In the course of the collective bargaining process between Cerrejón and Sintracarbón, on Thursday March 3, it was announced that the union members had voted in favour of a strike. This result is usual in the negotiations between the company and the trade union.

The negotiating teams of Cerrejón and Sintracarbón have agreed to continue talks in order to seek means to resolve our differences and to sign a new collective bargaining agreement.

Given the critical situation in the global coal market, we must act responsibly to ensure the company’s sustainability and thus maintain existing benefits for workers and their families as well as to continue meeting our commitments with our suppliers, clients, and La Guajira.
We invite all our employees to continue taking necessary actions to improve productivity and thus guarantee our sustainability.
