2024 Awards and recognitions
During 2024 we obtained multiple awards and recognitions, highlighting our work in various key areas:
Reputation:
- Brújula Minera: For the tenth consecutive year, we have positioned ourselves as the mining company with the best reputation in Colombia, according to this ranking that analyzes the mining sector in Colombia and several Latin American countries.
- Merco ESG Responsibility: Cerrejón was recognized as the first mining company and one of the 100 Colombian companies with the greatest responsibility in the environmental, social and governance areas, according to the Corporate Reputation Business Monitor (Merco).
- Merco Talent: We continue to be the mining company with the best capacity to attract, develop and retain talent, reflecting our commitment to the quality of life and well-being of our more than 13,700 direct and indirect employees.
- Merco Companies: For 17 consecutive years, we remained the mining company with the best reputation in Colombia, and one of the 100 best companies in the country.
- Alliance for Integrity, UNODC and Global Compact Colombia Network: Our corruption risk management system highlighted us as one of the top three companies in Colombia with the best practices in anti-corruption risk assessment and management.
Leadership:
- Merco Leaders: Claudia Bejarano, president of Cerrejón, was selected as one of the 100 leaders with the best corporate reputation in Colombia.
- Forbes Colombia Magazine: Claudia was also recognized as one of the 100 most powerful women in Colombia for the third consecutive year.
- 100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining (WIM100): Bejarano was also included in this prestigious list of leading women who have transformed the mining industry worldwide, awarded by Women in Mining UK.
Environment
- Top 10 in Biodiversity: Cerrejón was recognized by the National Center for Water and Biodiversity of ANDI and the Biodiversity Information System of Colombia (SIB) as one of the companies with the greatest impact in the use and publication of data on biodiversity in three categories: greatest impact in the use of data, greatest data coverage and greatest data publisher.
- BIBO El Espectador Award 2024: The project "The Guardians of the Mangroves in La Guajira", carried out in collaboration with the community, won third place in the "Women for Biodiversity" category.
- Caracol Television Award for Environmental Protection: Cerrejón is a finalist in the tenth edition of this award, which recognizes organizations that contribute to environmental protection, for our Endangered Species Conservation program.
Social Management:
- Private Social Investment Index in Colombia: according to the ranking that evaluates more than 170 companies from all sectors of the country, we are ranked 20th out of the 30 companies recognized for contributing to improving the living conditions of the communities and territories where they operate.
- Portafolio Awards 2024: We were selected as finalists in the "Contribution to the Community" category for our project "Dialogues that transform: more health and nature for Provincial".
Economic Performance
- Forbes Colombia Magazine: Cerrejón is among the 30 largest companies in Colombia, according to Forbes.
- Rankings of the 100 largest companies in the country: According to Semana magazine and La República newspaper, we stand out among the top 100 companies in the country for our sales volume and profits during 2023, according to data from SuperSociedades.
