Cerrejón, the Best Mining Company in ESG According to Merco 2024

Cerrejón was recognized in the Merco ESG Responsibility Colombia 2024 study as the best mining company and one of the top 100 companies in the country for social, environmental responsibility, and corporate governance. In its fourteenth edition, the study evaluated Colombian companies based on their performance in areas such as environmental management, social investment, employee welfare, and their contribution to the country's economic development.

The study evaluated six perspectives and more than 83,369 surveys, including inputs from company executives, experts, consumers, social media managers, consumer associations, trade unions, NGOs, financial analysts, journalists, and government representatives, among others. The results of studies such as Merco Society, Merco Digital, and Merco Talent were also considered in the ESG-related sections.

The global ranking evaluates the most responsible companies in ESG, assessing factors such as E: companies most responsible for the environment; S: companies most responsible in the internal, client, and societal spheres; and G: companies most responsible in terms of ethics and corporate governance.

At Cerrejón, good corporate governance is demonstrated through compliance with its code of conduct, policies, procedures, and the law.

This allows the company to ensure responsible sourcing in its supply chain, respect for human rights, safe and healthy production, as well as contributing to the social and environmental development of the region and the country.
