Air

At Cerrejón we carry out permanent control of air quality through a surveillance network made up of 17 stations, which allow us to monitor the levels of particulate matter and not exceed the limits established by law. This is one of the networks of largest monitoring systems in the country, located around our operations and in nearby communities, through which air quality is strictly monitored and the effectiveness of our measures is ensured.

The actions or measures we implement include the wetting of roads with water and a dust-suppressant additive, the use of low-flow sprinklers, and the leveling and wetting of coal in train wagons. These wetting controls use mining water, which is unsuitable for human or animal consumption or crop irrigation.
