Air

At Cerrejón we carry out air quality control through a surveillance network made up of 17 stations, which allow us to monitor the levels of particulate matter. We strive to not exceed the limits established by law. This is one of the largest monitoring system networks in the country, located around our operations and in nearby communities.

The actions or measures we implement include the wetting of roads with water and a dust-suppressant additive, the use of low-flow sprinklers, and the leveling and wetting of coal in train wagons. These wetting controls use mining water, which is unsuitable for human or animal consumption or crop irrigation.
