Cerrejón is ratified as the mining company with the best reputation in Colombia

Ranked for the first time since 2019 as the company with the best reputation in all ranking categories

September 13, 2022. Cerrejón was once again named, for the ninth consecutive year, as the mining company with the best reputation in the country according to the Brújula Minera ranking. For the first time since 2019, Cerrejón won in all the categories evaluated. The study, carried out annually by the consulting firm Jaime Arteaga & Asociados, the National Consulting Center and the Mundo Minero Magazine, evaluates the perceptions and expectations of the different stakeholders regarding mining and the impact it generates in terms of sustainability in the territories .

The sample carried out during 2022, approached more than 5,700 people between inhabitants of mining and non-mining municipalities; directors of mining companies; officials and local and environmental mining authorities and employees of the sector. According to the results of Brújula Minera 2022, 87% of the inhabitants consulted in the mining municipalities of La Guajira and Cesar state that mining is positive for their territories.

In this year's edition, Cerrejón was for the first time since 2019, as the company with the best reputation for all the categories that the ranking evaluates: company directors, government authorities, workers in the sector and public opinion in mining municipalities and not miners, as well as in the general result.

In addition, so far this year, Cerrejón has been recognized as one of the 100 companies in Colombia with the best capacity to attract and retain talent according to the Merco Talento 2022 ranking; as the best mining company and one of the top 100 in the country with the best social and environmental responsibility and corporate governance according to the Merco Responsibility ESG study; as well as one of the 30 companies with the highest private social investment in Colombia according to the Private Social Investment Index; among others.
