The Cerrejón Foundation renews its ISO 9001: 2015 certification

August 26, 2019. After a rigorous work undertaken since 2016 to certify the processes of the Cerrejón Foundation under the ISO 9001 standard, in recent days the quality audit was received by the ICONTEC certification body, which after The revision of the Foundation’s Quality Management System granted its renewal for a period of 3 years.

As part of the audit, the certifying entity visited the Bruno and Pupurema creeks integrated basin management project in order to verify the the satisfaction of the project beneficiaries.

“We are a community that have organized itself for the care of this plant nursery, learning and teaching the little ones to conserve the environment” said Alexis Ipuana, member of the local committee of the community of Coveñas, municipality of Albania.

The certification has as scope the planning, execution, monitoring and evaluation of projects that promote the preservation of the indigenous ancestral traditions, as well as the strengthening of institutional, community and business capacities; the design and implementation of access and conservation solutions for water resources and the promotion of initiatives aimed at the socio-economic development of La Guajira, based on joint investments with the public and / or private sector.

Currently, from the 72 business foundations assigned to the AFE nationwide (Association of Family and Business Foundations) only two have the ISO 9001 quality certification, including the Cerrejón Foundation, a source of pride and incentive for excellence.

This quality certification strengthens our commitment to transparency and the generation of trust with stakeholders ” said Janneth Daza, director of the Cerrejón Foundation.
