2,250 children from 18 educational institutions in indigenous communities in the municipalities of Albania, Uribia, and Maicao ended their school year showing better academic performance compared to previous years. Such was the conclusion of the traditional authorities and teachers who assisted at the meeting planned by the Cerrejón Foundation and the World Food Programme, which presented the results of the project “My School Lunch”.

The leader of the resettled community of Roche, Yoe Jeferson Arregoces Ustate, became the first beneficiary of the Cerrejón Educational Assistance program to graduate from a master’s degree in Integrated Management System that will complement the knowledge acquired in his profession of health official.

Cerrejón carried out the planting and establishment of 175,000 trees of native and endangered species in the region such as the puy, the guayacan de bola, the ollita de mono and the corazón fino for the restoration and protection of 280 hectares of tropical dry forest in 2019, one of the most important and threatened ecosystems in the country.

1,000 kilos of waste were collected in the municipalities of Albania, Riohacha and Villanueva by more than 100 employees of Cerrejón, who along with their families, during ecological walks that the company performs weekly, participated in a day of cleaning of rivers and forests.
